How is Laser Liposculpture different from traditional liposuction?
The results you can expect from Laser Liposculpture are very similar to liposuction; however, there are major differences that make Laser Liposculpture much more attractive to patients.
First, we use only local anesthesia, as opposed to general anesthesia, which significantly reduces complication rates and recovery time. Second, we use a gentle laser to destroy fat cells instead of physical, traumatic force. This dramatically reduces bruising, swelling and discomfort. Third, most patients are back to work the next day instead of experiencing a week or two of downtime which is required with traditional liposuction. Finally, Laser Liposculpture costs 25 to 50% less than traditional liposuction.
How is the fat removed from my body?
With Laser Liposculpture, our doctors use an FDA-approved laser to gently melt unwanted fat and remove it using a small cannula the size of a paperclip. The incision is so small, only a small band-aid or single stitch is needed.
What is the expected recovery time?
Most patients are back to work the very next day. You can expect some minor bruising and swelling but nothing that would prevent you from returning to normal activities. For active patients, we may recommend you refrain from vigorous activity for a few days, but recovery time is very fast.
Is the procedure painful?
As with any medical procedure, you can expect to experience some level of discomfort. Most patients rate their discomfort “very low.” This is also dependent on your targeted treatment areas.
What are the side effects and risks?
Laser Liposculpture is very safe. Complications are extremely rare. The most common side effects are minor bruising and swelling around the treated area(s).
Does Laser Liposculpture treat cellulite, loose skin and / or stretch marks?
The laser used for Laser Liposculpture promotes collagen production, resulting in skin retraction! Because of this, many patients report the added benefit of tighter, better-looking skin. That being said, this procedure is not specifically designed to treat cellulite or stretch marks.
Are results from this treatment truly permanent?
Yes. The fat is removed forever and will not come back in the treated areas. However, this does not mean you can eat all you want and not expect to gain weight. Be healthy!
